Nancy Shukri's Shame

Nancy Shukri (left), the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of law shot herself in the foot. Intentionally.

Perkasa’s Ibrahim Ali wanted to burn Malay-language Bibles because he believed Malaysian Muslims have a monopoly on “Allah”. He made the threat on January 19, 2013. [You may read about it at this blog link at http://helpvictor.blogspot.com/2013/01/ibrahim-alis-hate-filled-incitement.html].

Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng had asked in Parliament why the rabble-rouser wasn’t charged with sedition.

In a written reply dated Tuesday, Nancy had responded: "The statement he made was not intended to cause religious chaos but only to defend the sanctity of Islam.” Moreover, she added that the police had cleverly concluded that Ibrahim’s words were only directed at specific individuals, and not a threat to larger society.

Nancy seems ready to accept that if you are defending Islam, you can do just about anything that you please! This includes criminal acts. Maybe there is a new law that I don’t know about – that Muslims are a protected species in this country.

Any reasonably intelligent Malaysian knows that the non-action against Ibrahim Ali is indefensible. By not taking any action against him, the government is saying it is okay to torch things, annihilate assets and pulverize people – all in the name of Islam.

have no idea that Malaysia is promoting a mono-ethnic and mono-religious society. Like it or not, the world we live in is multi-ethnic and multi-religious. I say if we don’t have the decency and civility to respect others – just because they are not one of us – then be ready to have disharmony and conflict. And if so, please abandon all talk of 1Malaysia.

Today’s world has changed. The meek shall not inherit the earth after all. Ibrahim Ali must pay – otherwise, please expect more fire and brimstone from pretend Muslims like him.

And Nancy Shukri is so full of shit. To think that she hails from Sarawak where Malay Bibles (AlKitab) and Iban-language Bibles (Bup Kudus) are widely used. I am sure she has hurt the feelings of Sarawakians – at least I would like to believe so.

Nancy, you should hang your head in shame and resign!

I was at the Tropicana Golf & Country Resort in Petaling Jaya where Crystal Toastmasters gathered on Monday. I was originally tasked to be a speech evaluator but it was not to be. Two speakers had withdrawn and I was invited to deliver a speech instead. And so I did CC speech #4 titled “Disappointment”. As Benny Chia rightly pointed out, it could have been an even better speech if I had exercised a bit more care in my choice of words. Anyway I was voted Best Speaker. It was a good meeting in every respect and I am more than happy to give it an 8 over 10 score.
