No. 53 in the Corruption Perceptions Index

This year’s global Corruption Perceptions Index saw Malaysia inching upward by one rung. We sit in position No. 53; last year we were ranked No. 54.

Sure this represents a major improvement although I don’t think we have done anything important to deserve this. Still, we did improve, irrespective of my opinion on the matter.

But we cannot deny – and this is also reiterated by Transparency International – that it is a sign that more needs to be done to address the perceived misuse of public power for private benefit. And until and unless we have the courage to tackle the corruption in government, we are unlikely to make significant progress.

Taman Indrahana Toastmasters organized a Youth Leadership Program on December 09-10, 2013. I helped out on Monday and I gave a presentation on “Gestures in Speaking” as well as mentoring one of the three groups of tweens who participated in this event held in Sri Petaling, a suburb of Kuala Lumpur.

Hi, Victor. I am an existing Toastmasters International member. I was wondering if i would be able to join programme such as the youth leadership programme. If i can, how would i find out about these programmes? So far, i have only been doing my CCs and CLs.

If you are an existing Toastmaster, the Youth Leadership Program is not for you. And if you have already completed your CC, then you are already an experienced Toastmaster. May I suggest that you step up by starting your Advanced manuals? If you need help, get your club to arrange a mentor for you.
