Malaysian Voter Impersonators

Yesterday morning, at a press conference, BN sec-gen Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor described Bersih, the electoral reform NGO as “not 'bersih'” (clean). And to demonstrate that he did leave his brains at home – I am being polite here because I am giving him the benefit of the doubt that he has brains in the first place – he made the spectacular claim that he knew Bersih had sent foreigners, posing as citizens to vote in the Putrajaya parliamentary constituency during GE13.

“They (Bersih) were there, they saw what happened, (and) they brought in Bangladeshis in taxis to try to impersonate, to try to become voters”. This claim from UMNO is as bizarre and sensational as it gets!

Is he affirming the popularly-held belief that foreigners had voted in GE13? That UMNO, if not BN knew about it but kept their mouths shut? That there WERE Bangladeshi voters even in Putrajaya itself?

But I don’t expect anybody to be really startled by this allegation made by the UMNO warthog (above pic). Or that anybody will take meaningful action anyway. This is Malaysia after all. Malaysia Boleh!

On the same day too, the Sunway University Toastmasters met – their 33rd meeting – and as anticipated, it was well-attended and much enjoyed by the audience – both members and guests. It was a little unfortunate that we started one minute late although we finished on time. Still, it was a fab meeting and I don’t believe the meeting deserved a score that was anything less than an 8 over 10.
