Ibrahim Ali's Hate-filled Incitement

I didn't think this would happen in Malaysia but it did.  Free Malaysia Today reported Perkasa's Ibrahim Ali calling on Muslims to seize and burn copies of Bibles which contain the “Allah” word (Webpage, published January 19, 2013).

Ibrahim made the hate-filled incitement at a press conference after delivering his presidential speech at the “2013 Penang Malays Economic and Education Transformation”, a Perkasa forum held at the UiTM campus in Permatang Pauh in mainland Penang on Saturday. Perkasa patron and former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad who was also there delivered the keynote speech at the said assembly.

Catholic Bishop Paul Tan Chee Ing described this exhortation as "an incendiary statement that far exceeds the bounds of civil discourse in Malaysia". And he added: “This leaves matters in the hands of the authors of that concept of ‘1Malaysia' – whether they are purveyors of hype or promoters of a new Malaysia in which minorities are not targeted to suit the electoral calculations of those threatened by a surge in public consciousness.”

I find it baffling, bewildering and bizarre that Ibrahim Ali always gets away scot free despite making seditious statements – thereby, proving Najib’s 1Malaysia is nothing more than a joke! A colossal joke of epic proportions!

On Saturday, I attended the DAP Fundraising Dinner in Petaling Jaya. It was held at the MBPJ Hockey Stadium in Jalan Selangor where three hundred and thirty six tables were neatly arranged only to be filled up with Malaysians who came to support DAP. And seven speakers told us why we must “Ubah” (“Change”). GE13 is perhaps the only opportunity for us to change the government before the corrupt and the crooked totally bankrupt this country. Ini kali lah!

The speakers were Anwar Ibrahim (Parliamentary Opposiiton Leader), Mat Sabu (PAS Deputy President), Lim Guan Eng (Penang Chief Minister), Tony Pua (MP Petaling Jaya Utara), Lau Weng Sun (ADUN Kg Tunku), Kasthuri Patto (DUN Bkt Gasing Coordiantor) and Yeo Bee Yin (DAP Social Media Strategist). Good speakers, meaningful messages and rousing deliveries!
