Mat Rempits to Fight Crime

Home Minister Hishamuddin Hussein suggested that Mat Rempits be enlisted to help fight crime! (The Star, August 31, 2012, p 24). I have a feeling that this fella is really brain dead. To even think of it is insanely preposterous but to voice it out smacks of stupidity that knows no boundaries! By arrogantly referring to his suggestion as out-of-the-box thinking, it confirms that his brain has left his body a long time ago.

To get to the brass tacks, Hishamuddin is acknowledging that the police can no longer curb crime and so he has to resort to deploying illegal street racers who are themselves notorious for often giving the police the runaround. Is he saying that these daredevils are now the good guys? What is this country coming to? Hishamuddin has gone bonkers!

Yesterday, I was at the D-Villa Residence Kuala Lumpur to attend the MIMKL Toastmasters meeting. I sensed the mood to be serious as if eddies of solemnity had penetrated the entire meeting room. Even Ahmad Fakhri as Toastmaster-of-the-Morning wasn’t his usual effervescent self and he couldn’t give the meeting the much-needed boost. Moreover, the speeches and evaluations were so-so. I am going to award this meeting a 6.5 out of a 10. Sorry, I didn't think it was a Saturday morning that was well-spent.
