Anwar Charged Under Peaceful Assembly Act

Anwar Ibrahim, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and Rembau PKR chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin were charged on Tuesday with taking part in the April 28 Bersih 3.0 under section 4(2)(c) of the Peaceful Assembly Act, less than a month after the new law aimed at allowing public gatherings “in accordance with international norms” was enforced. The offence under the Peaceful Assembly Act carries a maximum fine of RM10,000.

All three claimed trial. Sessions Court judge Mahmud Abdullah set July 02 as the next mention date for the trial.

The persecution has begun (again). But it won’t stop Anwar and the others. The fight continues. As one Malaysiakini reader posed this question: Shouldn't the other 249,997 people be charged too? Damn right!

On Monday, I went to the Money & You Toastmasters meeting. I was the evaluator for Ainsley Tan who delivered a speech about a stalker who became her newfound love. I was also voted the Best Evaluator.

The club won two awards, the first the RIisng Phoenix Award and the second, the Club Coach Excellence Award. And I was handed the latter award because I am the club coach! All in all, it was a fun meeting! A score of an 8 out of a 10.
