85 Million Cases and A Promo Clip in Penang Hokkien

Covid-19 has infected more than 85 million people globally.

And Algeria and Ireland have now put themselves in the C100K list, giving us a new total of 78 countries. Combined together, they contributed 97.6% and 98.1% of cases and deaths worldwide respectively.

I guess when it rains, it pours.

This WSD 2021 promo clip from Ang Sher Lyn only came in on Sunday – a belated arrival – nonetheless, we gladly accepted it.

After all, it is an unexpected voice and equally important, she has made good her commitment to us with regard to doing the said video. That tells us much about her – that she can be counted on.

Her speech was wonderfully rendered in Penang Hokkien, added with a smattering of English.

FYI, the dialect originated from the Fujian province in south-eastern China and is widely spoken by Chinese communities of Southeast Asia, particularly in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines.

I must admit that I enjoyed listening to the speaker's dulcet voice and I can't wait to hear her again on World Speech Day 2021!
