Well Done, Donald Trump!

The US leads the world, not just in coronavirus cases – but also in fatalities.

Yesterday, the country’s death toll reached 100,000 – and that itself is a record-busting milestone!

With 4.25% of the world population, it has the tragic distinction of accounting for 28.60% of pandemic deaths so far. And Americans can thank their man in the White House for his brilliant leadership.

Right from the start, Donald Trump (right) has shown acumen, sagacity and savvy.

All right, I am lying! He’s a dumb-ass! But I must admit I have a lot of admiration for Americans because they can countenance, tolerate and put up with him.

Just consider his rich trove of inane and idiotic statements as the coronavirus pandemic meanders its way through the country and slicing it open to bleed.

On February 27, Trump confidently declared that Covid-19 would "disappear" – and he wished the virus away. [Note: That month had seen just one fatality].

On March 10, he reiterated that the coronavirus “will go away. Just stay calm, it will go away”.

On March 29, he trumpeted that a final US coronavirus death toll somewhere in the range of 100,000 to 200,000 people would, in fact, indicate that his administration has “done a very good job”.

On April 03, he repeated that the virus “was going away – and it is going away”.

On April 20, he shifted into reverse gear – he projected that 50,000 to 60,000 people were expected to die.

Seven days after, Trump upped his numbers, saying Covid-19 fatalities could touch 70,000.

On May 03, he again changed his mind and told the nation of the sobering possibility of 100,000 deaths.

Twenty-three days later, the man who keeps moving his goal posts depending on his temperament found out that he got it right! Finally!

LOL, if you keep plucking numbers from the air randomly, it’s only a matter of time, you’ll get it right. Anyway, no matter how many Americans die, you can bet that Trump will still claim victory! And he'll give himself a pat on the back too!

But honestly, Americans deserve better. No sensible person looking at the clusterburach in Trump’s White House can deny that he is single-handedly responsible for bringing the country into disfavor and disrepute and inviting obloquy and opprobrium.

FYI, the seven worst affected countries combined contributed 73.9% of coronavirus deaths worldwide:
