WSD 2020 is Less than 3 Days Away

It is less than 3 days away from World Speech Day 2020:

With people getting unnecessarily alarmed by Covid-19 – and which they really shouldn't – I can't help knowing that the number of attendees will be affected.

Still, I believe most Malaysians are intelligent and more importantly, sensible and they are not going to allow themselves to be stricken by panic. It will only worsen the situation because what we need to do now is to stay calm, follow best practices in personal hygiene and as long as you don't belong to the vulnerable group, you should be alright.

But we shall see.

On Wednesday, I was at No. 8-2, Jalan USJ 9/5P in Subang Jaya, Selangor for the Subang Toastmasters meeting. I was looking for a speaking slot on January 29 and Lee Hui Kean was kind enough to arrange one for me at his club this month.

And so I gave a CC#6 speech titled A Silent Scream. I was voted Best  Speaker.

That was my 880th speech todate:

If I take it as my very last assignment speech for Toastmasters – meaning, my Toastmasters journey is calculated as only up to the end of this month when I will not renew my membership – simple maths will tell me that 4292 days (July 01, 2008 to March 31, 2020) divided by 880 speeches gives me 4.88.

To put it in another way, as a Toastmaster for 11 years and 9 months, I have on average, presented a speech every 4.88 days.

This particular speech helped me to complete my 67th round of the Competent Communication manual:

And which earned me my 132nd Toastmasters award for Communication and Leadership:

I have always enjoyed a Subang Toastmasters meeting and as is my customary practice, I captured these photos for posterity:

A reminder to myself: Less than twenty days before I quit Toastmasters:
