Officially Covid-19

The World Health Organization has given 2019-nCoV an official name: Covid-19.

“We had to find a name that did not refer to a geographical location, an animal, an individual or group of people, and which is also pronounceable and related to the disease”, the WHO says. The decision was based on guidelines agreed between WHO, the World Organisation for Animal Health and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

“Having a name matters to prevent the use of other names that can be inaccurate or stigmatizing. It also gives us a standard format to use for any future coronavirus outbreaks”, the WHO continued.

Still, the new name might not be welcomed by audio cable manufacturer Covid!

As of now, 45,172 people have been infected and 1,115 have died (thewuhanvirus.com).

At 3:48 PM today, I received confirmation from Toastmasters International on my latest award – my ALB #11:

Meaning, I have now accumulated a grand total of 129 Toastmasters awards in Communication and Leadership todate:

I just need one more award and I am done! One hundred and thirty awards was what I had aimed for and it is now achievable - given that I have only 48 days left before I quit Toastmasters!

It’s a cinch really because I am already working on another CC award as well as my seventh ACG award. And just maybe, there’s one or two more CL awards.
