Brouhaha over Kelantan's Fleet of Mercedes-Benzes

Malaysian politicians and government leaders are mostly a bunch of hypocrites, irrespective of party affiliation and political ideology. That also includes those who unabashedly carry the shield of religion as they demonstrated to the rakyat their skill in political doublespeak.

These covetous opportunists pay themselves lucrative salaries and award themselves privileges – and they showed they really don’t give a damn about the common folks once they have secured political office.

The latest brouhaha over the Kelantan government’s decision to purchase a fleet of Mercedes-Benzes is a case in point. In fact, this affair involving the PAS leadership is downright obscene.

Why would they need fourteen luxurious marques for the state’s menteri besar (right) and executive councilors?

Kelantan is not a rich state by any measure. Despite the oil royalties they’re receiving – the fact remains that they do not have enough funds to cover their civil service payroll, at least according to Lim Guan Eng.

Furthermore, the Finance Minister said he was not aware if the Kelantan state government had applied for tax exemptions to buy the German cars, adding that he also did not know whether the cars had gone through the Customs Department.

The photo of the said car estimated to be worth nearly RM700,000, of course, went viral on social media.

This naked flaunting of their earthly position in a self-glorifying government is simply mind-numbing, even disgusting and downright scandalous! PAS are no better than the rest of the snollygosters!

Yesterday, I was in Taman Kinrara, Jalan Puchong in Puchong, KL for the Super Speakers Toastmasters meeting.

I was a Speech Evaluator for an Advanced Speech and I also volunteered for the Table Topics – and I was voted Best Evaluator and Best TT Speaker. It is comforting to know that I still have what it takes to 'win'!

A good meeting and why not? Five of their members were together with me when we were once, all part of the happening AFC Toastmasters Club!
