Miss Malaysia Pits Against Miss Philippines for Best National Costume

Malaysia’s representative Shweta Sekhon donned the 28kg Peranakan-inspired costume designed by Carven Ong for the Miss Universe competition held in Atlanta in Georgia, USA on December 08.

Personally, I thought the whole outfit was way over the top. A busy palette of garish colors and gaudy designs. Sorry, it was just too overwhelming for me.

Anyway, it was Miss Philippines Gazini Ganados who won the Best National Costume segment at the 68th edition of the pageant.

And South Africa's Zozibini Tunzi was crowned Miss Universe 2019, if you don't already know.

The contest is said to be the largest pageant in the world in terms of live TV coverage, airing yearly in more than 190 countries worldwide to an audience of over 500 million people.

Yesterday, I gave two speeches, the first at the Bandar Utama office of Shlumberger Business Support Hub which have an interest to start a Toastmasters club and the second at Speakers’ Dream Toastmasters Club:

A joyous meeting at KGPA in Jalan Damansara, Kuala Lumpur – and why not, Christmas comes early to Speakers’ Dream members.

I added to the merriment too as the Toastmaster of the Evening. And I was really in an effervescent mood. A rare moment.

I did a CC#9 titled Push Thyself and I received a gift for my speaking effort – yup, you guessed it, a Best Assignment Speaker ribbon!
