WSD: A Speaking Phenomenon

March 15 is World Speech Day and it is celebrated in towns and cities in 103 countries.

A day like no other. A day fully dedicated to public speaking. A fun day. This is the day of speeches and speechmaking.

In 2020, Malaysia too participates in this global phenomenon. In three locations. In Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Melaka.

Since this year, Malaysians have wholeheartedly embraced this public speaking occasion – with eagerness, enthusiasm and excitement.

Speak because it improves upon the silence. Speak because the heart tells you to. Speak because it empowers.

May I suggest you mark this date on your calendar – so you too can experience this once-a-year event?

On Wednesday evening, I was in SS19 in Subang Jaya, Selangor to deliver a speech at the Extol Toastmasters meeting.

It was a CC#7 Research Your Topic titled Dying.

And it was one of my assignments for my Competent Communication manual #64.

I also evaluated an Extol Toastmaster’s speech as part of his preparation for a Humorous Speech Contest.
