Najib Razak to Enter Defense in SRC Trial

Former prime minister Najib Razak (left) was today ordered to enter his defense and answer to charges for abusing RM42 million of SRC International funds.

High Court judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali said the prosecution had successfully established a prima facie case for all seven charges against Najib.

The decision wasn’t unexpected. The said trial began on April 03 this year and the prosecution had summoned 57 witnesses to the stand.

Najib, who served as Malaysia’s sixth Prime Minister from April 2009 to May 2018, appeared calm after hearing the verdict. He has indicated that he will be giving evidence under oath. By choosing this option, he will be subject to cross-examination by the prosecution.

Najib is facing a jail term of up to 20 years, if found guilty.

Celtic remain top of the Scottish Premiership following a routine 2-0 victory to Motherwell on Sunday.

The Man of the Match is easily Odsonne Edouard. He slammed the champions in front in the nineteenth minute when the ball broke his way in a busy penalty box. It was also Edouard later who sent Jonny Hayes scampering forward to deliver a driven cross through the goalmouth. Motherwell right-back Richard Tait was in the line of fire and his attempt to hook clear only crashed the ball into his own net in the fifty-fourth minute.

In the EPL game between Liverpool and Manchester City, the former skillfully dismantled the latter to emerge victorious with a 3-1 scoreline.

Fabinho gave the Reds the lead in the sixth minute with a spectacular long-range drive. Then, Andy Robertson whipped a perfectly weighted cross for Mohamed Salah to head home seven minutes later. And then, Jordan Henderson's pinpoint delivery lured the opposing goalie into a critical moment of hesitation and Sadio ManĂ© also headed home in the fifty-first minute.

Sure, the Citizens managed to score one – but across the 90 minutes, Liverpool proved to be a far better side than Manchester City.

Liverpool are nine points and three places clear of the reigning champions!

We now have a real hold at the Premier League summit. After twelve games.
