Huawei Revenue Jumps 23% Despite US Blacklist

China’s Huawei Technologies said their revenue expanded by 23.2 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2019, as the world’s largest telecommunications equipment vendor battles the effects of being added to the US Entity List on May 16.

The Shenzhen-based company generated revenue of 401.3 billion yuan ($58.3 billion) in the first six months of the year, up from 325.7 billion yuan during the same period in 2018, thanks to stronger domestic demand for their smartphones and also robust demand for their 5G equipment.

Chairperson Liang Hua said on Tuesday, although their operations faced many difficulties as a result of the US trade blacklist and the second half may see more impact – the company was confident of staying the course.

Manchester City showed they are ready for the forthcoming EPL 2019-2020 campaign when they beat Liverpool on penalties to win the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday after an absorbing contest had finished 1-1.

Former Liverpool player Raheem Sterling gave the Citizens the lead in the twelfth minute – as Liverpool’s sluggish pre-season form continued in the first half.

The Reds were so much better in the second half – and they equalized through Joel Matip’s header in the seventy-seventh minute – but a host of other chances to take the lead went to waste.

Manchester City claimed the silverware in this traditional curtain-raiser as they converted all five of their penalties in ruthless fashion while Georginio Wijnaldum had his effort saved by Claudio Bravo.
