Disney Serve Local Fare

Disney are serving up some local fare in their latest animated short series, Mickey Go Local.

The South-East Asia division of the American media giant is releasing a six-episode series, each spanning two minutes, which features Malaysia and Singapore’s food and other local traditions.

“We are committed to creating locally appealing stories that are relevant to our fans. The Mickey Go Local animated shorts are the first time our beloved characters are seen enjoying Southeast Asia’s charms, providing heartwarming moments for kids and families”, said Amit Malhotra, The Walt Disney Company’s regional lead for emerging markets (direct-to-consumer & international) said in a press statement.

“We are excited to work with an exceptional group of local creative talent from Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines to bring the animated series to life”.

Their first episode, Master Hawker, sees Mickey making and selling satay and Donald Duck tossing the roti canai in the air at a hawker street. When Goofy passes by, the street vendors pull out all the stops to impress him.

The other episodes will premiere on a monthly basis until January 2020.

Yesterday, I was at the UNIPAC Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd premise in Jalan Jurubina U1/18, HICOM-Glenmarie Industrial Park in Shah Alam, Selangor for the UNIPAC Toastmasters meeting.

I was there as the General Evaluator – a commitment I made to Celine Pang, the Immediate Past President, way back on July 08.

Overall, a good meeting in every aspect. Well done!
