Lynas Betrayal

Malaysia will allow Australia's rare earth plant Lynas Corp to continue operating in the country, Mahathir Mohamad said yesterday.

Lynas’ licence is due for renewal in September but has been facing opposition over waste disposal issues.

The prime minister’s shocking decision ended uncertainties that bogged down the future of the $800 million (RM3.35 billion) Lynas plant in Gebeng, Pahang following a temporary suspension of its operating licence.

“Lynas is allowed to continue operating because we do not want to lose big investments from Australia”, he explained.

This is an unforgivable betrayal – Mahathir is putting money from Australia ahead of the rakyat’s health. Shame on you, Mahathir!!!

I was at Wisma IEM in Jalan Selangor, Petaling Jaya in Selangor. I was the General Evaluator at the IEM Toastmasters meeting last evening.
