Barcelona Shoot 3 Against Liverpool

On Wednesday, Liverpool landed at the C. d’Arístides Maillol in Barcelona, Spain for the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie – in fact, this was their second time in a row in the semis.

And the Reds lost 0-3 to Barcelona in painful fashion.

I can suggest three reasons. First, deploying Gini Wijnaldum as a false nine in a 4-3-3. I didn't think he was the right choice. But when he proved to be ineffective, Jurgen Klopp should have substituted him after the break  but he did not. Second, poor finishing. Both Mo Salah and Sadio Mane missed golden opportunities to secure the priceless away goals. Third, Lionel Messi’s magic.

Enough said. Looking ahead, Liverpool mustn’t crumble now. A fightback is needed.
