Najib Razak's SRC International Trial is Coming Real Soon

The Federal Court was the bearer of good news yesterday!

Chief Justice Richard Malanjum (left), who chaired a seven-person panel at the Federal Court, delivered a unanimous decision over Najib Razak’s case pertaining to former 1MDB unit SRC International – that is a Brobdingnagian boost to the cause of justice.

The other judges on the panel are Chief Judge of Malaya Zaharah Ibrahim, Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak David Wong Dak Wah, Ramly Ali, Rohana Yusuf, Mohd Zawawi Salleh, and Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat.

“We are unanimous in our view that in granting of a stay of proceedings by the Court of Appeal, we are of the view that there’s no jurisdiction to do so”, Malanjun ruled.

“As such, we set aside the order of the stay and now we remit this matter to the High Court for proper action. We remit it forthwith and let the High Court take it from there”, he said.

Najib’s trial was initially scheduled to start from February 12 and run until March 29 – but was put on hold twice by the Court of Appeal on February 11 and March 21 pending related appeals.

Wednesday was the hearing of the prosecution’s appeal against the stay granted by the Court of Appeal on March 21, when it allowed Najib’s trial to be halted until the Federal Court decides on four appeals.

The Federal Court will hear the four appeals on April 04.

No more tricks, no more delays – let Najib have his day in court.

Last evening, I was back at Shah Village Hotel in Petaling Jaya, Selangor for another MIMPJ Toastmasters Club meeting. I was both the Grammarian and the sole project speaker – where I delivered CC #5 titled “Suffer in Silence”.

I had also participated in Table Topics which was modeled on a contest format. Meaning the eight of us who took part had the same topic. And I was judged Best TT Speaker:
