Pakatan Harapan Win Again

Low voter turnouts marked Saturday’s by-elections for Seri Setia and Balakong.

Still, Pakatan Harapan were declared the clear winners for both the Selangor state seats. There was to be no miracle for the Opposition.

PKR’s Halimey Abu Bakar (left) managed to retain Seri Setia, winning a 4,027-vote majority over his PAS contender Dr Halimah Ali.

DAP candidate Wong Siew Ki (right) won the Balakong by-election with a 18,533 vote-majority of 22,508 defeating MCA’s Tan Chee Teong who received 3,975 votes.

Sorry, PAS, sorry MCA!

Yesterday, I went to the Universiti Malaya Academic Club at Jalan 12/5, off Jalan Universiti in Petaling Jaya, Selangor to attend the Sai Masters Toastmasters meeting. I was the General Evaluator.

Even if there were only eleven of us – it was still a good meeting. Spanking speeches and excellent evaluations. And the thought-provoking Table Topics prepared by Suresh Mohan and the five impromptu speeches that followed were the icing on the cake.

And did I tell you that Soman Rama Krishnan's presidential address was convivially comical? What a way to start off an early morning meeting!

Sharon Foo captured this priceless photo of me caught in a wee fit of laughter. Very rare.
