Malaysian Monkeys Stage a Walkout

The Malaysian Parliament’s first post-GE14 sitting on Monday had a memorable start – MPs from PAS and BN staged a walkout to protest the swearing-in of Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof (right) as the ninth Dewan Rakyat Speaker for the fourteenth Parliament.

They had claimed the appointment process was not transparent and did not follow the “point of order” – therefore, it was a breach of house rules. LOL.

Well, not all of them. The three who stayed put were Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin, Kimanis MP Anifah Aman and Labuan MP Rozman Isli – all from UMNO.

In any case, the former Court of Appeal judge’s appointment represents non-partisanship – since he is not a Member of Parliament – and therefore, it is an important part of efforts to strengthen Parliament towards the process of democracy.

Although, PH’s general election manifesto stipulated that the Dewan Rakyat Speaker should be appointed from among their Members of Parliament – this is one pledge they can disregard, as far as I’m concerned.

Anyway, the Opposition monkeys who had walked out came shuffling back to take their oaths of office. LOL!

Today’s other joke is the news that former prime minister Najib Razak has withdrawn his legal actions against the 1MDB investigators. Chickenshit!
