In what can be called the most bizarre surgery, doctors in Chennai, India had successfully removed a cockroach from a woman’s skull and guess what, it was alive!

According to The New Indian Express, 42-year-old Selvi felt weird tingles around her nose and eyes at night when she asked her son-in-law to take her to the nearby clinic who then asked her to go to a government hospital – and which she did on Wednesday – where a cockroach was finally taken out.

The domestic worker living in Injambakkam in south Chennai, was fast asleep when she felt an insect crawling inside her nostril. She tried to brush it aside but it had already gone in.

She even tried to blow her nose to eject the insect but it crawled deeper inside her.

The results of her nasal endoscopy showed the menacing bug sitting on her skull between her eyes for supposedly 12 hours.

“This is the first such case I have seen in my three decades of practice”, Stanley Medical College Hospital’s Dr MN Shankar, Head, ENT Department told the news site.

“We had to use a combination of suction and forceps to finally pull it out”, explained Shankar.

After 45 minutes, the live cockroach was finally extricated from the abyss.

Poor roach – it could have died!

And do you think the cockroach is the only one with a problem?

This duck too:
