I am pleasantly surprised that Perkasa have come out in support of the Orang Asli.

lt is an obligation as good Muslims for PAS Youth to support the Gua Musang Orang Asli community’s struggle against the alleged attempt by timber companies to take away their land, Perkasa Youth pronounced today.

Perkasa Wira chief Mohamad Shahiran Safwan Che Mohd Asemari said he was appalled by PAS Youth's seeming support for the timber companies involved in the conflict, saying that as good Muslims they should instead be outspoken in upholding justice.

“PAS Youth should actually be more vocal in defending the oppressed instead of the timber tycoons who only think of profits,” he had said.

Mohamad Shahiran continued: “Islam never teaches us to oppress let alone oppress people in the name of Islam and development”.

On Tuesday, Celtic and Manchester City played out a low-key draw as their Champions League group phase.

The result didn’t matter – it was a dead rubber with the latter already assured of second place in Group C and Celtic eliminated with no chance of Europa League football.

On the same day in Kuala Lumpur, I was at the MIDA Toastmasters meeting followed by the Bangsar Toastmasters meeting.

At the former, I was a Table Topics Evaluator as well as a speech evaluator. And at the latter, I was an Ah Counter.
