Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed that the grenade attack on Movida in IOI Boulevard in Puchong at 14:15 hours last Tuesday and which injured eight people was the first successful strike by IS in the country.

The target was deemed an unIslamic establishment and therefore, fair game to IS. Two men were arrested three days later in Klang.

Besides the two attackers, the IGP said 13 other IS-affiliated suspects had been arrested since the incident.

Khalid said they included two police officers in Kedah and Perlis. Khalid said one of them planned to carry out robberies to help fund an IS cell while the other was protecting a senior IS member.

I wonder how extensive is IS infiltration within the police ranks?

It is disconcerting that the police made a U-turn from claiming that the Puchong blast was either a business rivalry or an underworld gang fight to now putting the blame squarely on the IS.

Khalid should stop pussyfooting around and swiftly disable all active IS cells in the country – before the situation deteriorates. Let’s hope the police can be pro-active before somebody actually gets killed.

This evening, I attended the Bangsar Toastmasters meeting – at a different venue, i.e. Service Rocket’s office in Plaza Sentral in KL Sentral.

I had two tasks – as a Toastmaster-of-the-Evening and as a project speaker.

I certainly enlivened the meeting even though the responsibility was entrusted to me at the eleventh hour.

Better still, I did assignment #3 The Moral of the Story from the Storytelling manual titled “The Wishing Well” – and with that, I had completed all 5 speeches from the said manual in 56 days. I even won the Best Speaker award.
