The Red Warriors Turn Pink

Malaysian football is in the doldrums. In this unhappy situation, there’s not much money around. Football clubs are in dire financial straits and anybody who comes along with some money would be hailed as a savior.
And so the astonishing story of a 44-year old wealthy woman, the fabulously bling bling Hasmizah Othman – also known as Datuk Seri Vida – made a sponsorship proposal that the Kelantan Football Association (Kafa) simply could not dismiss.
It was not a paltry sum. It was a 2-year sponsorship deal with her company Vida Beauty Sdn Bhd that was worth RM16 million. But there were conditions attached.
The Kelantan players will wear pink jerseys. Their home venue – Sultan Mohd IV Stadium in Kota Baru – will also be painted in the same color. The team’s nickname The Red Warriors will append names of her products, the Pamoga health drink, and the Qu Puteh whitening product – they would be referred officially as Pamoga Qu Puteh The Red Warriors. It is too much of a mouthful and so, netizens have taken to calling them the Pink Warriors!
Kafa were desperate for funds to mount a challenge in the new season so this deal was pretty much a foregone conclusion.
And during the January 15, 2016 media conference, Vida even managed to get the Kafa men to wear pink! Not only that – but they also gamely put on her trademark Qu Puteh pose for the photographers: a V-sign over their lips.

The macho men of Kelantan football have finally found their match. Not only that but it looks like Lady Pink is going to call the shots. LOL, I pity these men.
Kelantan finished a dismal ninth in the Super League and failed to get past the group stage in the Malaysia Cup competition. But with their finances now in the pink of health, things are brightening up for Kelantan football.
Celtic are still sitting steady at the top of the Scottish Premiership. Their January 23, 2016 match against St Johnstone saw them emerging victorious with a 3-1 score. The defending champions were efficient as they took control with goals from Gary Mackay-Steven (9, 55) and Stuart Armstrong (43).
And then, the wild Saturday game that was a nine-goal thriller between Liverpool and Norwich and which was decided only when Adam Lallana’s injury-time strike gave the Reds’ a 5-4 victory that pushed us into seventh place.in the EPL table.
