Surge - NKJ's EDM Debut

Two of my Diploma students at Sunway University made me immensely proud of them when they co-composed/produced “Surge”, their maiden music video through their vehicle NKJ Music. Watch it here:

NKJ, of course, refers to the dynamic duo, 20-year old Nicholas Tan aka Nickieymore and 21-year old Jayden Koi – who actually met at Sunway University and because of their shared love of music, decided to work together to create "Surge".

The two started the project in June 2015 and did much of the groundwork after classes – and that speaks volumes about their enthusiasm, dedication and moxie. It’s passion with a capital ‘P’.

The NKJ video was directed by WEiS Filmbox (Chong Kern Wei), a good friend of Nic Tan. The music video was shot in November and December at three locations: KL’s Bukit Bintang and Jalan Horley, and SS15 in Subang Jaya.

It is noteworthy to mention that Nic & Jayden did almost everything themselves, whether researching and learning more about dance music, developing the storyboard for the video, finding the money to fund the project (it cost nearly RM4k) and the nitty-gritty of what is required to get it all done.

And you saw their EDM masterpiece track “Surge”.

Note: EDM means Electronic Dance Music” – just so you know!

BTW, these two amazing guys got A's for my subject DMK1023 Business Communication! That's another awesome reason to be proud of them!

NKJ is ready to bring their EDM to the world! So, please support them! Share this post!!
