Secret Santa

'Tis the season of giving! On behalf of a wealthy donor known only as Secret Santa, police officers in Kansas City, Missouri, gave away money to unsuspecting motorists.

Steve Hartman reports:

Lest we get too carried away with the feel-good story, The Sun on Tuesday highlighted an MEF report on graduate unemployment.

The latter recognizes that with the economic outlook for Malaysia made bleak by the weakened ringgit and low crude oil price, it is now estimated that only 40% of fresh graduates would be able to land their first job next year, down from 65% this year.

Malaysian Employers Federation president Shamsuddin Bardan said the Malaysian job market is flooded with some 250,000 fresh and retrained graduates each year. And just to put everything in the right perspective, he disclosed that 200,000 Malaysians were jobless between 2013 and now, and the majority of them are graduates.

In view of the lower growth forecast for next year, there will be fewer new job openings, which means fresh graduates will face greater challenges in securing a job, he had said.

2016 is not expected to be a good year!
