Cowgirl Tires of Aunties

UMNO’s celebrated cowgirl Shahrizat Abdul Jalil (left) had finally attained enlightenment yesterday. She acknowledged that her faithful following of sarung-kebaya-and-selendang female members have successfully degenerated into becoming the walking undead. The difference is that their body parts are all still intact.

Anyway, these women are only capable of crooning choral celebrations of appropriate affirmations when instructed to do so by their leadership but otherwise they shall remain muted because they are not supposed to think or speak without prompting. In fact, I don’t think they can even if they tried. Many have unkindly referred to Wanita UMNO as a henhouse where makciks (aunties) meet to keep each other company and chase away loneliness.

Hence, Shahrizat’s decision to invite women professionals and corporate members to join UMNO. Of course, she gave an oft-heard reason to support this initiative – she explained she wanted to further elevate their status and give them due recognition because they are contributing to the country’s development. For a woman, she sure can talk bull.

Shahrizat had realized that she needed to get Wanita UMNO rejuvenated. Or else it is a question of time her party wing will quickly disappear into obscure irrelevance. Besides, she is also being personally affected. Most of her brain cells have died from spending too much time with her mindless minions. Anyway, she was smart enough to at least know she didn’t want to go their way!

Last evening, I was at the Money & You Toastmasters meeting where I had managed to secure a speaking slot. My CC speech #6 was titled “Rapunzel's Shampoo”. A fairy tale with a twist. And it involved you guessed it, shampoo.

The last time I was at this club's meeting at Old Klang Road in KL was almost a year ago (December 30th to be precise). Anyway, it was nice to make a return visit.
