Anwar Ibrahim is Not Forgotten

In a meeting between US President Barack Obama and PM Najib Razak on November 20, 2015, the former had called on the latter to release former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim from prison. The request was reportedly made on humanitarian grounds, because of Anwar’s deteriorating health.

It is a matter of record that the US government already have a position on Anwar – yup, his trial was flawed and politically-motivated, and that Anwar is in fact, a political prisoner.

I learned that Najib’s response was predictable. He had to follow Malaysia’s legal system, he said.

To many Malaysians, it is ironic that Najib wants to hide behind Malaysia’s legal system – just so Anwar remains behind bars. He certainly has had no hesitation to use and abuse it for his own political survival.

And it’s not just against the opposition anymore. Now Najib is going after critics in his own party, as well as investigators who have gotten too close to the truth.

I don’t expect anything positive to happen anytime soon. Still, never give up on “hope”. Hope permits us to see that shaft of light shineth in the darkness. Hope means a possibility is present. Hope keeps us hoping.

The X-Wing has landed! Star Wars fans are making a beeline for KL’s MidValley Megamall to take a closer look at a replica of the Rebel Alliance's Incom T-70 X-Wing Fighter. Berthed at the mall's Center Court, the 80 percent scale replica was brought here by the Walt Disney Company to promote the epic space opera's seventh installment, Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I must confess I am not a Star Wars fan but with all the promotional hype surrounding the highly-anticipated movie, even I got excited. Okay, truth be told, mildly excited.

And Royal Selangor also got into the act. They have joined forces with Disney to come up with a unique Star Wars pewter collection of figurines and accessories to commemorate the famed pop culture phenomenon and the uber successful movie franchise.
