Ex-DPM's Daughter Sings "After The Rain"

Soul singer Najwa Mahiaddin (above) has told Malaysians to “hold their heads up” in her stirring song After The Rain

Najwa, who is the daughter of former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, said she believed in the power of music and its ability to heal.

“May this song provide comfort and strength to us all in these trying times,” Najwa said in a Facebook post Thursday that accompanied the music video of her latest number.  She sings about how “we may all fall down, but we all get up” and “after the rain, comes the sun”.

"After the Rain" is a haunting hymn that has intimations of sadness and at the same time, recitations of hope. An arousing anthem that calls for Malaysians to hold their heads up even as the country goes through trying times.

Sadly, her dad is not blameless. He too had a hand in putting this country in the dangerous predicament that we are now facing. He is UMNO, after all.

On Thursday, the Sunway University Toastmasters Club meeting was in session. Thirty-seven people came. We witnessed good Table Topics. We had a decent selection of speeches and evaluations. And we started on time – although regretfully, as the General Evaluator pointed out, the meeting ended seven minutes behind schedule. My score for this meeting is a 3.5 over 10.
