Ismail Sabri Says Boycott Chinese Businesses

As always, the Malaysian Chinese are the fall guys. They get blamed for most things. Perkasa, Isma, UMNO and even pseudo-Chinese like Ridhuan Tee use them as a punching bag.

Happy to take up the cudgels for UMNO this time is Ismail Sabri Yaakob (left), the Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister – and he launched a broadside against the Chinese because they have been singled out as being the villains who are responsible for the high prices of goods.

It is not the government who are at fault for mismanaging the economy but the Chinese who are exploiting the situation by raising prices in order to reap prodigious profits. Hence, Ismail made the call for Malay consumers to boycott Chinese businesses.

In his Facebook post (pic), he said the Chinese are a minority and if the Malay majority stop patronizing the former’s businesses – “they will surely have no choice but to reduce their prices.”

Petrol prices have plummeted but prices of goods are going the opposite direction because the Chinese are greedy – at least that was what he implied. Ismail said Malay consumers have a role to help the government “fight profiteers by using their collective power to lower the price of goods”.

And from sky-high prices, Ismail swung ninety degrees and started to rant and rave about the Chinese who cheat by serving non-halal food under the guise of halal food.

"Imagine, many Chinese eateries have no 'halal' logo and they have been raided a few times and caught because their 'halal' certification is suspect, (but) Malays continue to favor these restaurants, when there are thousands of Malay restaurants which are genuinely 'halal'."

Ismail cited Old Town White Coffee as an example and claimed that it is owned by DAP’s Ngeh family whom he said are "anti-Islam". He has made another 90-degree turn by aiming his guns at the DAP and using religion to incite the Malays.

"As long as the Malays don't change, the Chinese will take the opportunity to oppress the Malays," he said.

Ismail has malignantly portrayed the Chinese as being dishonest, avaricious and predatory. And he then ingeniously linked us to the DAP and branded us anti-Islam.

Ismail’s labyrinthine logic is ludicrously lowbrow. I am already feeling nauseous. I cannot help it because I am allergic to stupidity. But I can live with stupidity – what is more troubling is that this UMNO minister is maliciously malevolent.
