The Ebola outbreak continues its relentless spread, pushing the death toll to 2,105 across five countries as at September 05, 2014. The WHO has already declared the ravaging disease an international public health emergency.

The fragile health systems in the said region are ill-equipped to handle a health crisis of this scale and the shortage of critical supplies and loss of skilled health workers continues to hamper the best efforts to contain the disease. Not just that – but the damage to the health system also severely limits its capacity to handle other critical health needs of citizens.

Malaysia talks a lot but why isn’t she sending emergency medical aid to the affected countries?

World No. 7 Low Wee Wern (left) qualified for her second final of the year by convincingly beating Egyptian teenager Salma Hany in the semi-finals of the China Open on Saturday. Low who won the China Open in 2012, was in sparkling form as she powered to an 11-8, 11-2, 11-9 win.
