Bad Hair Day? Get a Korean Haircut

The poster has become a tourist attraction, the salon claims. Image credit: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-27038723

North Korean officials paid a visit to a London hair salon to question why it had used their boss Kim Jong-un's picture in a poster offering haircuts. After all, if you are a good (read, docile) citizen of a totalitarian government, you know you should not mess with your beloved leader's portrait!

The poster put up on April 09, 2014 in M&M Hair Academy in South Ealing featured the words "Bad Hair Day?" below Kim's picture. Obviously in the current news there has been this story that North Korean men are only allowed one haircut – hence the April promotion.

Barber Karim Nabbach said embassy officials were shown the door even as they insisted that the poster be removed and the salon's manager spoke to the police. North Koreans remind me of UMNO prudes they don't have a sense of humor at all.

Kim must be in a benevolent mood to want to free his citizens from freedom of choice in the matter of haircuts.

On Thursday, the Sunway University Toastmasters Club organized a demo meeting – this serves as a platform to recruit new members – and we had an attendance of just over a hundred. We had a line-up of Toastmasters friends, i.e. Gabriel Chong and Benny Chia (ITC Bintang), Jeff Foong (D’Utama Advanced), CP Lau and Serena Kong (Money Mastery) and  Giles Ojo and Geoff Andrew (MIMKL) to help out. Thank you!

It was a success because Vice President Membership, Marilyn Lai gave out 6 membership application forms immediately after the meeting.

A good job by Vice President Education Nawal Lyana and others for having successfully orchestrated this event.
