Najib Razak Wants Kangkung Praise

Prime Minister Najib Razak became the object of ridicule when he grumbled publicly that Malaysians do not know how to be thankful even though the price of kangkung (water spinach) has gone down. He thought he was being clever when he used the humble leafy vegetable to explain to his audience that food prices may rise because of factors, e.g. bad weather which are beyond the control of the government.

"I read in the newspaper that some prices have come down. Kangkung prices once went up and now it is down. When the prices come down, why are there no praises for the government? When it goes up, the government gets the blame. This is unfair…” he said, during his off-the-cuff speech in Kemaman, Terengganu on Sunday.

Najib makes a good stand-up comedian!

Hidup Najib! Hidup kangkung! Long live Najib! Long live kangkung!

Last evening, I was in Subang Jaya to attend the Sime Darby Healthcare Toastmasters meeting – together with five other Sunway University Toastmasters. I spoke first – I did CC speech #6 titled ‘The Boy Who Tasted Chicken” – and then it was Dr Nagiah Ramasamy’s turn – he gave a speech about obesity. Another two members took up meeting roles, i.e. Ah Counter and Timekeeper, and we also participated in Table Topics.

Overall, it was a good meeting and I must thank Choong Jay Vee, the club president for accommodating us. I am giving this meeting a score of a 6 over 10.
