Severed Heads

Every couple dreams of having a killer wedding. And this Texan couple set their sights on a killer wedding cake. The Huffington Post has this story – which was posted on November 06, 2013.

Newlyweds David and Natalie Sideserf decided to take the phrase "Till death do us part" to a whole new level by crafting a custom cake to give the line its due.

The result was a hyper-realistic cake depicting both of their heads, severed and bleeding on the floor. Their glazed-over, lifeless eyes stare both into the afterlife and at wedding attendees.

Sideserf, who owns Austin bakery Sideserf Cake Studio, crafted the cakes herself. In a Facebook post, she acknowledges the cake design was "very nontraditional" but explains, "Halloween [was] coming, my husband loves horror movies... and I like sculpting humans."

"It was perfect for us," she said. The guests, however, were a bit harder to win over. “I didn't tell anybody about it, so it made it really interesting to see people’s reactions,” Natalie told ABC News. Some would call it tasty tastelessness!

On Monday, I was at Cititel MidValley to attend the MidValley Toastmasters meeting. The night before, Vice President Education, Timothy Nakayama had issued an urgent appeal for help and I and others had responded. And so, I was the Evaluator for a CC speech. Generally, I found the speeches to be mediocre and the evaluations hard-hitting. I would give this meeting a score of a 5.5 over 10. At 7 PM, there were only twelve of us; by 8 PM, this number rose by another 4. This club needs to get its act together!
