No Human Rights for LGBTs

I was disturbed to read in Malaysiakini on September 27, 2013 that the government will not tolerate or support any provisions in international human rights conventions that promote immorality and contravene the country's laws, ethics, religious values and culture.

Foreign Affairs deputy minister Hamzah Zainudin maintained that there will be no human rights for lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transexuals (LGBT). Other groups are okay whether children, women, disabled persons, Orang Asli and the marginalized.

If the LGBTs don’t fall within this “okay” category, not even the “marginalized” group, then where do they belong to? Why must we single them out to be nobodies?

I am sure God has not forsaken them but the Malaysian government has. What does this tell you about the morons who are in government? That we have morons in government!

On Wednesday, I was at the Air Products Toastmasters meeting in Bangsar South. I was there as the Table Topics Evaluator. And I was delighted to also have met two of their members who were my former students, one from Nilai International College and the other from HELP’s HICT. I would score this meeting a 7 over 10.

And then later in the evening, I dropped by at Shah’s Village Hotel in PJ’s Lorong Sultan to attend the MIMPJ Toastmasters meeting. I only managed to listen to two speeches, one of which was the winning humorous speech by Rosliza Mohd Said.
