A Strange Story About Lahad Datu

The Lahad Datu mini-invasion is fast becoming a footnote. There has been no news of the mopping-up ops nor news about the remnants of the Royal Sulu Army. But Lahad Datu district officer Zulkifli Nasir has testified before the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants in Sabah claiming that local police had in fact informed him that the Sulu gunmen were planning an incursion, two weeks before the February 12, 2013 event took place. According to Malaysiakini's report yesterday, Zulkifli was told to keep this secret.

So if Zulkifli is to be believed, Lahad Datu was a charade. A put-on show. A political game. I don't think we will hear the last of the Sulu fighters. It's a matter of time before they surface again to make headlines.

Last evening, I was in Damansara Perdana PJ Trade Center in Jalan PJU 8/8A for the Gamuda Toastmasters meeting where I evaluated a Gamuda member who delivered CC speech #3. I was also voted Best Table Topics speaker. A relatively good meeting that has earned a score of a 5 over 10.
