PR: A Coalition of Equals

There’s a lot more unity and togetherness amongst the Pakatan Rakyat partners than we give them credit for. Sure, DAP and PAS have different ideologies. But what's important is that they all share a common cause. Of course, there has been public spats that were gleefully highlighted and played up by the mainstream press and the government-controlled television stations.  The altercations can sometimes be quite nasty. And I can say in all honesty, there will be more.

Even so, what is wrong with that? It is alright to bicker, quarrel and squabble. After all, we aspire for a democracy in which there is free expression of ideas and thoughts.

Admittedly, these ideas and thoughts may come into conflict with one another but that is part of the process we go through in a democracy. We will just need to find common ground because it is in everybody’s interests to find accommodation. It is not that difficult a task because the threesome that makes up Pakatan Rakyat is, by and large, decent. As Charles Pickering had said: “A healthy democracy requires a decent society; it requires that we are honorable, generous, tolerant and respectful”. If we have that, any dispute won’t last long.

After all, didn’t Plato once said: “Democracy... is a charming form of government, full of variety and disorder; and dispensing a sort of equality to equals and unequals alike”?

There is a lack of understanding about Pakatan Rakyat. The members comprising PKR, DAP and PAS are equals. Unlike the other coalition where UMNO lords over the others and wants everything done its way. No resistance because these other parties must kowtow to Big Brother. Indeed, there is a big difference between PR and BN

Just as important, Pakatan Rakyat is leading the way for ordinary Malaysians to come together in the true spirit of a Malaysian Malaysia. BN may propagate the illusive insight that the Chinese fear PAS and the Malays don’t trust DAP but check out the photos below and tell me if it is true or not. BN is so full of lies, lies and lies!
