Najib Razak Responds

The prime minister (left) finally gave a response – that is typically Najib – to Deepak’s exposes accusing Najib Razak and some of his family members of being instrumental in paying off private investigator P Balasubramaniam to sign a statutory declaration refuting his earlier statutory declaration linking Najib to Altantuya.

His response was curt and brief. "It's not true. He is not a credible person," Najib had said last night, breaking the long, ominous silence he has kept since November 2012.

In fact, even way back in 2009 when Balasubramaniam made damning claims that Najib knew murdered Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu, Najib too had dismissed them with a petulant retort: “I will not entertain any frivolous statement”.

Somebody should remind Najib that his deputy Muhyuddin Yassin once told Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng: “Mere denial is not enough”! Personally, I believe Deepak is more credible than Najib!

Anyway, Najib’s brush-off is the all-too-familiar UMNO refrain. Deny first until the shit hits the fan, then admit and blame someone else for it.

On Wednesday, I went to Federal Hotel in the city to attend the ITC Bintang Toastmasters meeting. I took up the Grammarian’s role and the quality of English was just average. And guess what? I bumped into the American couple again (i.e. Stefania & Jim). Overall, the meeting was alright but it could have been more vibrant. I would give this meeting a score of a 6.5 over 10.
