A Coup Recipe

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohamed Nazri Aziz cemented his reputation as an idiot par excellence when he stunned Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday by stressing that the “power of salt and mineral water” in toppling governments should not be underestimated. After all, the Egyptian and Libyan governments had fallen “by the mere use of handphones”. He was referring to the government’s position that Bersih 3.0 was a clear attempt to overthrow the government through undemocratic means. Need I add to this insane inanity that Nazri is spitting out? Really, do I need to say more? I will just roll my eyes and laugh out loud! And do wait for the announcement by Nazri that the government will be banning salt and mineral water.

I was at KDU University College yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised to see many of the senior members attending the D’Utama Advanced Toastmasters meeting for a change. The speeches were the garden-variety type. I was especially disappointed with the two “Inspire Your Audience” speeches – the first was tolerable (and I am not saying any more) and the other clearly went off tangent. Generally, the evaluations were above-average and one shouldn't be surprised because they were presented by some very experienced Toastmasters. Of course, a number of people were garrulous, rambling and long-winded (e.g. Toastmaster-of-the-Evening, Table Topics Evaluator) – which further caused the agenda to go off the rails insofar as the timing is concerned. I would score this meeting a 3.5 out of a 10.
