Daglish Loses Job

I was benumbed to hear that Kenny Dalglish had been fired. He had led Liverpool FC to Carling Cup glory and the FA Cup final, but he could not seal a Champions League spot and he also finished eighth in the EPL.

I guess the American owners wanted quick results and when they didn’t get them, they were quick on the trigger. Understandably, they had invested a lot of money in the team but I don’t think Daglish was given ample time to make the investment work. One year was certainly too brief a period because success requires patience.

Daglish had had a tough year and I am sorry to see him go.

On Tuesday, I was at KL Sentral to visit the Bangsar Toastmasters Club. The last time I was there was in July of last year and I was glad there were still familar faces – people like Lourdes, Ranjit, Lucky, Uma and the others. There were three project speeches – one speech was heart-warming but the other two missed the mark insofar as the objectives went. The evaluations were good though. Overall, a decent meeting and I would score it a 5 out of a 10.

On Wednesday, I was at Plaza VADS in KL’s TTDI to attend the YSP Toastmasters meeting – my first visit to this club. Speeches and evaluations showed great promise and I was happy to note that the members were greatly enthusiastic too. They’ve earned a score of a 6.5 out of a 10. I hope more support is given to this promising club!
