NFC Bribery Attempt

Shamsubahrin Ismail (left) who was promptly arrested and subsequently charged with cheating NFCorp chairperson Mohamad Salleh of RM1.76 million in fraudulent consultancy fees, had filed a police report on Friday, alleging that the latter had told him to bribe the police to close their probe on the NFC.

Shamsubahrin’s accusation is consistent with an email that PKR disclosed on January 13, 2012 detailing how NFCorp’s lawyer allegedly told a MACC advisory board member that an official in the company had been tricked into paying money to a “conman” – understood to be Shamsubahrin – to influence ongoing police investigations into the NFC project. Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas later confirmed to The Malaysian Insider that he authored the email which PKR has presented as proof that a top NFC official had allegedly tried to bribe the police.

On Tuesday, PKR’s R Sivarasa and Zuraida Kamaruddin said if the authorities failed to take similarly swift action against Mohamad Salleh – it would be tantamount to them abetting the act of bribing. Both the police and MACC, they added, should then come under scrutiny for the offence.

It looks like the NFC case won’t go away anytime soon! I don't believe NFC concerns only Shahrizat and her family; other UMNO personalities are involved too. Hence, UMNO is in the messy quagmire that it has found itself in!

January 2012 saw the highest number of pageviews my blog has ever received – since I started blogging on October 06, 2008 – I had well over 12,000 pageviews! It’s a good sign of increasing readership of my blog and hopefully, this readership will continue to grow from strength to strength,
