Easy and Enjoyable Sex

Remember the Obedient Wives Club? Remember their sex manual that raised everybody’s hackles? Well, the back cover of that interesting book is shown on the left. For those who don’t understand Malay, the English version is as follows: “As a spiritual leader, Allah has granted him the ability to have simultaneous sex with all his wives. And if the wife is spiritual, the sex is greater. They can fly anywhere for sex, it is more enjoyable and easier compared to physical sex. For that reason, Abuya was processing his wives towards the spiritual.”

['Abuya' is 'father' in Arabic and in this context, it refers to Ashaari Muhammad, the influential founder and leader of the outlawed Al-Arqam sect, from where the Obedient Wives Club (OWC) traces its origins].

In my October 14, 2011 posting, I mentioned “group sex” but I think I have been mistaken. It is even trickier than that! Let me see if I get this correct - this OWC guide book preaches about “spiritual sex” and that if Muslims learn how to master it, presumably, they can reach higher planes of eroticism although I recall reading somewhere that none of the OWC members have attained this level! Like I said, it’s tricky!

Anyway, we all know by now that the Home Ministry has banned the book but the national chairperson of OWC in Malaysia, Fauziah Ariffin was unperturbed. She said all the books had been distributed and read by members before the book was prohibited, adding that the books sold like pisang goreng panas (English equivalent: hot cakes).

I don’t agree with this ban – unless the government wants to ban sex altogether. After all, if UMNO goons can distribute and watch sex videos, why do we apply a different set of rules for the OWC? Compare OWC members to the corrupt BN politicians and you know that OWC is harmless.

Besides, this idea of spiritual sex is not even new. Just google “spiritual sex” and there are lots of stuff you can learn about this subject.

“Spiritual sex encompasses sexual energy that goes beyond physical sensations of pleasure, genital orgasms and even the loving connection of sexual communion” – this is an excerpt from one article that I so happened to chance upon. Titled “Spiritual Sex: Beyond the Physical” and written by Linda Savage, a psychologist and sex therapist – it would seems that even the Americans are believers. Of course there are different interpretations of what spiritual sex embody but what they are all saying is that sex is much more than carnal desires and physical gratification.

As for me, I like to keep my sex simple and straightforward. Don’t you?
