Nicol David - World Champion for the 6th Time

Malaysian squash superstar Nicol David created history when she won a record sixth women's World Open title on Sunday in Rotterdam with a straight games victory over England's Jenny Duncalf, the world’s No. 2. David prevailed 11-2, 11-5, 11-0 in just 29 minutes and which was arguably her best performance in a world final.

"Everything just came together, and at the right time. It was at another level. It was a World Open final, and it was the world title and I didn't want anyone to touch that trophy,” David said.

It was a perfect six for David – six wins from six finals at the world meet, making her the most successful woman player in the history of the game. The triumph is the latest narrative in the storied life of Malaysia’s greatest sports star. David who turned pro in 2000, won her other world titles in Hong Kong (2005), Belfast (2006), Manchester (2008), Amsterdam (2009) and Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt (2010) – she had earlier shared the honor, five titles apiece, with her mentor Sarah FitzGerald of Australia.

You’re awesome, Nicol! You inspire Malaysians with your winning attitude!

And yet, I don't see any live shows on Astro for squash. There are no huge headlines on newspapers (I have to flip countless number of pages!) This is the way Malaysians hope that kids will follow Nicol's footsteps? I wonder why do we only have live shows on badminton, when the players can't even strike consistency as well as Nicol. Oh well!
