Larger Than Life

Last evening, I was at Old Klang Road to attend the Money & You Toastmasters meeting. I was glad I went because it was an evening of great speeches and evaluations. No doubt the speakers were relatively new to Toastmasters, but they soldiered on and acquitted themselves rather well. Imperfections aside, they spoke with honesty and clarity that was very affecting, even stirring. Of the four speakers, I thought How Yee was the most articulate with a beautiful dulcet voice and true enough, she was voted the Best Assignment Speaker. It was also good to see Toastmasters from other clubs – those from Sai Masters, Taman Indrahana, MIMKL, Scope, Cyberjaya and AFC – who came to juice up an already rousing meeting. I would give this meeting a score of an 8 out of a 10. Oh yes, I gave a three-minute inspiring humor speech – to additionally spice up the meeting.

The art publication Visionaire 61 cover is a treat for fashionistas and Monsters alike because it features larger than life Lady Gaga dressed as an oil-slicked mermaid. Gaga is topless under the tar-like substance, not that you can tell anyway! Her hair is styled in a long and flowing fashion and blonde streaked with red, white and blue. Famed photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin shot the photos. The magazine broke The Guinness Book of World Records for the largest magazine cover. And don't expect to find the magazine at your local newsagent though. The standard size edition (36-inch by 49.48-inch) sells for $375 and only 2,500 copies have been printed. The Deluxe Edition, which is a 7-foot version, sells for $1,500.

This is why there are people like me who say “Money can buy happiness”!
