Malaysian Victim

The August 04, 2011 shooting of Mark Duggan in the Tottenham neighborhood triggered a demonstration. But on Saturday violence erupted and soon spread to other parts of London and by Tuesday, the unrest had reached to other English cities including Manchester, Salford, Liverpool, Nottingham, Bristol and Birmingham.

In the affected cities, the police hesitated and the mobs burned buildings and looted stores. Very early on, it has dawned on everybody that the London riots had nothing to do with the killing. Prime Minister David Cameron said Tuesday this lawless rampage was just "criminality, pure and simple".

A Malaysian, Mohd Asyraf Haziq Rosli was attacked by a mob, and then mugged by people pretending to help him. He suffered a broken jaw in the process and this episode captured in YouTube sparked an outpouring of outrage. But what was even more alarming was the fact that even children took part in the assault on this twenty-year old student.
