The Sex Video

Datuk T’s sex video tape purportedly showing Anwar Ibrahim having sex with a woman continues to command attention and generate excitement. Former Malacca chief minister Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik, businessman Shazryl and Perkasa’s Shuib who had proudly claimed responsibility for the video, organized a private screening to a select group of individuals to ostensibly prove that “a man who wants to be prime minister is not qualified.” In other words, they had finger-pointed Anwar. They then surrendered what they claimed to be the only tape to the police. But the story took a twist. A 107-second snippet surfaced on the Internet on Sunday, just two days after police said the “original” video was not doctored. Although the snippet was taken off YouTube at 11.35 PM on Monday itself – it was still available in at least 60 postings. The Inspector-General of Police Ismail Omar was compelled to issue a statement on Tuesday that the snippet did not come from the police. Many pro-UMNO blogs were zealously promoting the snippet. Even TV3 aired parts of the video clip in its 8 PM prime time news reports on Monday and Tuesday. Utusan Malaysia also front-paged the video-stills on Tuesday. All of them represent a devil-may-care attitude that illustrated the fact that our media are being managed by dunderwhelps who have crawled out from the perverted depths of loathsome sleaze. Obviously these parties are hell-bent on denigrating and humiliating Anwar.

It sure tells us something about the nature of people who love to showcase smut. Still, it is very heartening to hear that Muslim scholars have rightly condemned the wilful distribution of the alleged “Anwar Ibrahim” sex video as haram, against Malay culture and “illegal and unethical anywhere around the world” (Webpage http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/print/malaysia/releasing-sex-video-is-haram-say-muslim-scholars/, posted April 05, 2011).

The manner in which the video clip and its stills have been disseminated would broadly hint as to who are behind this lewd and vulgar initiative. UMNO have tried to disassociate themselves but they cannot shake off the suspicions that have come their way. PKR have even accused UMNO of orchestrating this. Anwar’s wife, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is right when she said that "…this video is another example of gutter politics that is patronized and valorized by the BN” (Webpage http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianpress/article/ALeqM5gqKatztwumpJmpS9cka8OTeJT1Bw?docId=6466352).

Does anyone actually believe this video clip to be authentic? The infamous Datuk T had claimed that the sex encounter took place at a hotel "that offered sex services and spa facilities" in the Malaysian capital on February 21 but the YouTube clip showed a subtitle in Thai that suggests a Bangkok address. The “actor” had resembled Anwar but it cannot be properly ascertained – he did not stand in place long enough for his face to be clearly identified. Did you realize that at a glance, Shazryl Eskay does resemble Anwar? And did you know that he was a former honorary consul to Thailand? Bangkok is in Thailand for those who cannot put two and two together. As for the scurrilous black-and-white video – why not film it in full color? Was it to make identification of the “actor” more speculative? Furthermore, the setting looked like a dingy room in some budget hotel. And who goes for a fuck in a hotel where the pimp has to chaperon the client and the prostitute right into the “play”-room? Or maybe the second man is really the porn video director – giving last minute instructions to his two main actors!

As far as I am concerned, this whole episode is nothing but a fabrication. And at the time of writing, the perpetrators (i.e. Datuk T) who had publicly confessed that they were the ones who chose to stick their noses into the stinky shit - well, they are still free!
