2nd Placing in Division B Table Topics Contest

This afternoon, at the Division B International Speech & Table Topics Contest, a total of ten participants took part and in both these contests, Taman Indrahana Toastmasters Club didn’t do too badly. Fellow club member Chan Weng May was placed third in the International Speech contest while my good friend Meyyappa was champion and Nicole Choe came in second place. In the Table Topics contest, I could only manage second place behind the champion, Bernard Louis, while Johnson Yike was third-placed. I must admit that I had lost to a better speaker – it’s as simple as that! I improved my standing this year but the goal of being District 51 champion still eludes me. Sigh! Bernard was also the one who beat me to first place in the Speech Evaluation contest on September 25, 2010. Double sigh!

This morning I was in Jalan Ampang to attend the MIMKL Toastmasters meeting where I was the evaluator for Axel Aguirre. And yesterday, I attended the MIHRM Toastmasters meeting (photo above) where I was the evaluator for another speaker, Vincent Soon.

Another blogger Mohd Nur Hanief Abdul Jalil, who recently made a reference to allegations of a sex scandal involving the Sultan of Selangor and a celebrity model, was hauled in for questioning under the Sedition Act at midnight on Friday by police and officials of the Internet regulator, the Multimedia Commission. It was revealed that this intimidating harassment occurred without even a warrant of arrest. It was only the timely intervention of Batu MP, Tian Chua that Hanief – after being issued with an investigation notice to report to their offices on Saturday – was released. It was not immediately known which of Hanief’s postings was the cause of the action (Blogsite
