Rosmah for Foreign Minister

I grinned broadly when I read that Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin has proposed that Malaysia’s self-styled First Lady Rosmah Mansor be the next Foreign Minister. As she rightly puts it, Rosmah’s holiday trips were more effective than Foreign Minister Anifah Aman’s diplomatic duties (Webpage http://www.malaysia-today.net/mtcolumns/newscommentaries/37842-pkr-wants-rosmah-as-foreign-minister, posted February 01, 2011).

And today, BP reported a full-year loss of $4.9 billion (£3.1 billion) in the 2010 year to December 31, compared with profits of $13.9 billion (£8.7 billion) in 2009, after the financial impact of the fatal Deepwater Horizon explosion was deducted.

BP once again upped its estimate of the cost of the disaster today to $40.9 billion (£25.5 billion) after it took an additional $1.04 billion (£647.8 million) hit in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Chief Executive Bob Dudley said he was determined to see the embattled BP emerge as a safer and more trusted company. Ah-huh.
