Choices

Just to share with my readers. If Ireland had won the playoff against France – I would be supporting the former instead. Honest. There are two countries that I would dearly love to support in a World Cup tournament and these are Scotland and Ireland. (Okay, Malaysia too, if we can ever raise the standards of our game to world-class level!) Only then France and Germany in that order. The majority would support Brazil, England, Spain and the other popular teams - but for me, I choose to support France and Germany. It's a personal thing.

I was supposed to attend my regular monthly D’Utama Advanced Toastmasters Club meeting this evening but MAS Mawar Club President Emil Anthony had requested my urgent presence to take on the dual role of evaluator (for Jamila Khan) and grammarian, for their joint meeting embracing all 3 MAS Clubs (i.e. Mawar, Cempaka and Melor), also scheduled today. And so, I skipped the former and instead, chose to attend the latter. Hadzrin, Meyyappa and Stephen Fernando turned up too and added to the exhilarating energy that was already present. I will readily admit that there’s always plenty of merriment in MAS Toastmasters meetings – these guys and gals sure know how to have fun.

As you can read from the above, our lives are governed by choices. We have the power to choose but no power to escape from the necessity of choice. I think Ayn Rand said something to that effect. It's true, isn't it?
